Osun Decides 2026: KDI Activates Data Room to Monitor Governorship Election

KDI Election Day Data Room monitoring the 2026 Osun governorship election

The Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) has commenced operations at its Election Day Data Room ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The organisation announced the activation of the data room on Friday, August 14, as part of its efforts to strengthen election monitoring, transparency and evidence-based reporting during the electoral process.

The initiative, operating under the #OsunDecides2026 campaign, will support KDI’s real-time observation, verification and analysis of developments during the election.

Reports from KDI observers deployed across the state will be received and assessed through the Data Room. The monitoring will cover the entire electoral process, including the opening of polling units, accreditation, voting, counting, collation and the immediate period after the election.

KDI will also receive information from members of the public and other stakeholders through its toll-free election incident reporting line, 080 0000 10000.

The organisation said the reporting mechanism would help with the prompt documentation, verification and escalation of incidents that may occur during the election.

The Data Room will monitor developments at polling units, including voter participation, adherence to electoral procedures, the performance of election technology, and the presence and conduct of party agents and security personnel.

It will also track incidents of violence, intimidation and other developments that could affect the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.

Another key responsibility of the initiative will be combating misinformation during the election. KDI said the Data Room would provide timely and verified information from the field to help the public and other stakeholders distinguish credible reports from unverified claims.

The activation comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, political parties, civil society organisations and other stakeholders make final preparations for the August 15 governorship election.

The KDI initiative is expected to provide an independent source of verified information throughout the voting and collation processes.
