The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters recorded in the state, according to a statement issued by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.

Haruna said 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of registered voters, remained uncollected at the end of the collection exercise.

He explained that the uncollected cards had been transferred to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for safekeeping, in accordance with the commission’s established procedure.

The INEC official also disclosed that some voters whose PVCs were lost, damaged or defaced had applied for replacement cards.

According to him, 6,101 voters who applied for replacement had obtained downloadable printed copies of their PVCs.

INEC also said it had published a detailed breakdown showing the number of collected PVCs at individual polling units, allowing voters and other stakeholders to access the information.

With the election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, the commission assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of its preparedness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.

The disclosure comes as preparations intensify across the state ahead of the governorship poll.
