The Tukur Yusuf Buratai International Golf Resort and Country Club (TYB-IGRCC) in Abuja has commissioned a newly constructed caddy shed aimed at improving the working environment and welfare of caddies at the facility.
The modern structure, inaugurated on Monday, provides additional welfare amenities for caddies who assist members and visitors at the golf club.
Among the facilities available at the new shed are bathrooms, toilets and a canteen, providing caddies with a more comfortable and suitable space while carrying out their duties.
Dr Ali Peters, Vice Captain of TYB-IGRCC, represented the club’s Captain, Brig.-Gen. Nicholas Ashinze, at the commissioning ceremony.
Peters said the project reflected the club’s recognition of the important role played by caddies in ensuring quality service and smooth operations at the golf facility.
He expressed appreciation to individuals and organisations whose contributions helped make the project possible.
According to him, the new facility goes beyond providing physical accommodation, as it represents an investment in the people whose daily efforts contribute to the experience of golfers and the overall success of the club.
Peters also acknowledged the support of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, who is a past Grand Patron of the club.
He commended the Grand Patron and Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, as well as the club’s Patron and Chief of Training, Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, for their leadership and contributions to the development of the facility.
He further recognised retired Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the club’s Life Patron, for his continued encouragement and support for the growth of TYB-IGRCC.
Peters noted that the collective backing of the club’s patrons had contributed to its development while enhancing the experience of members and guests.
Retired Maj.-Gen. Godwin Umelo, who commissioned the caddy shed, praised the club’s management for making the welfare of caddies a priority.
Umelo said the facility demonstrated the club’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for all personnel contributing to its operations.
He encouraged the caddies to regard the facility as their own and take responsibility for keeping it in good condition.
He urged them to maintain cleanliness, protect the property and ensure that it remained useful for both current and future caddies.
Umelo also called on the caddies to respond to the club’s investment in their welfare by maintaining discipline, professionalism and high standards of service.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by members of TYB-IGRCC, executive committee officials, caddies and other guests.
The new caddy shed is expected to contribute to better working conditions and improved welfare for caddies at the Abuja-based golf club.
